Fall to Winter

Fall in Alaska doesn't last long; and cold weather doesn't have to mean sacrificing your sense of style. Living in Fairbanks, Alaska the clothing shop options are very limited. The only mall in town has less than 10 stores- having moved from Seattle it's been a tough transiotion for my closet but a fun challenge.

I never thought I would be one to suggest looking at the clothes section in Fred Myer but you have to work with what you have. Some of my favorite sweaters have been found at a store that's mostly known for groceries.

Cold weather calls for a whole lot of sweaters, cardigans, and jeans. If you're like me and you're getting tired of the same two pairs of denim then I highly recommend checking out Fashion Nova. There are so many options of high waisted, distressed, color, crop style jeans to choose from.

Happy Friday beautiful people.

Summer to Fall

Living in Alaska, fall comes and goes pretty quick. Since fall fashion is my favorite thing I'm always sure to take as many photos as possible, and with winter just around the corner I have to start stocking up on content!

This colorful Chen Burkett skirt was so cute I wanted to find a way to be able to wear it in the cooler autumn months. If you don't own any thigh high boots, then I must say you're missing out. Mini skirts are great in the summer for showing off some leg, but once temperatures hit 50 and and below it's time to start being smart about what you wear. Long socks and boots are a practical and stylish way to keep a good part of your lower body warm while still looking fabulous.

Rattlesnake Ledge x Sarah Mulder Jewelry

Sometimes you meet the right people at the right time and everything just works- that's what happened with this collaboration. Last year I met and worked with photographer Alyssa Wilcox a few times on various personal projects. In the spring of this year I came across a jewelry designer via Instagram, Sarah Mulder ,who lives in California. She had seen some of my work and also knew Alyssa from her photography work, so the three of us teamed up for this fall fashion styled shoot.

Here we are now. Sarah sent me some jewelry from her new Fall/Winter 2015 line to style. I have a thing for crystals so of course my two favorite pieces were the two necklaces with the gems; but I had fun with all the jewelry. I tried to pick three different outfits that weren’t exactly the same, but went well with the jewelry and all spoke to who I am.

Fashion speaks to who you are and each one of these looks describes a side of me perfectly! I believe in looking good AND feeling good because looking good doesn’t mean you have to be in pain! A plaid shirt, nice pair of dark denim, and a beanie is my go to casual fall look. Casual doesn't have to mean sweats and looking like you just rolled out of bed- it can be fashionable! A new addition I have added to my closet is a suede dress from local vintage seller KCO Vintage; paired with last year’s black knee high boots and last but not least a nice burgundy lace dress. Some jewelry only goes well with one style of clothing so it was nice working with a line of pieces that are so versatile.

How would you style some Sarah Mulder jewelry?

Hello Fall

Jaleh (75).JPG

Fall is finally in the air here in Seattle. The leaves have changed colors, the temperatures continue to drop, and the rain has even come back!

I recently had a fun fall-styled shoot with local brand Jaleh at Volunteer Park. Both new and old pieces from the line were brought to shoot, with a new twist on the styling to showcase the more casual side of the brand.

This brand has so much to offer: colors, patterns, short sleeve, long sleeve. Dress it up, dress it down.

You know that rule about no white after Labor Day- break it. Who even came up with that?! I loved pairing this high low top with a nice pair of jeans and flat with a simple gold bracelet.

We shot eight pieces from Jaleh's collection and every item had something different to offer. My favorite look of the day was definitely the mustard peplum shirt; peek the rest of the looks and let me know which ones are your favorites!

Love Beatrice

Just as I was getting ready to say goodbye to summer, Seattle weather decided to warm up again. It has gone from mid 50s up to low 80s within a week's time, which has turned my closet into a hot mess of sundresses and winter jackets!

Shana Bea, a local bag designer from Los Angeles, California and founder of Love Beatrice, recently contacted me about a project.

I was asked to create some looks that showed who I am, my style, and to accessorize with my new Alani clutch in black and burgundy. I've said it once and I'll say it again- my style has a mind of its own. I stuck to a simple but fun summer look by pairing my favorite yellow print pants with the new black clutch.

Last fall I went thrift shopping in downtown Seattle and came across this fur coat and I immediately fell in love. I had New York Fashion Week on my mind while putting together the second look. Always aiming to be classy but never wanting to blend in, I put together a little black dress with the coat and burgundy Alani bag.

The prices on her merchandise range from $20 to $65. Insert excited emoji here! Bags at that price are a deal- so go check it out!
