Fall to Winter

Fall in Alaska doesn't last long; and cold weather doesn't have to mean sacrificing your sense of style. Living in Fairbanks, Alaska the clothing shop options are very limited. The only mall in town has less than 10 stores- having moved from Seattle it's been a tough transiotion for my closet but a fun challenge.

I never thought I would be one to suggest looking at the clothes section in Fred Myer but you have to work with what you have. Some of my favorite sweaters have been found at a store that's mostly known for groceries.

Cold weather calls for a whole lot of sweaters, cardigans, and jeans. If you're like me and you're getting tired of the same two pairs of denim then I highly recommend checking out Fashion Nova. There are so many options of high waisted, distressed, color, crop style jeans to choose from.

Happy Friday beautiful people.

2 words to change your closet- Fashion Nova. I started hearing about this online store on social media, through celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Cardi B promoting them. I was skeptical, not thinking that the quality and fit of the items would be up to par.

I finally decided to give them a shot and I've never been happier with an online shopping experience. Their prices are way more than reasonable, the fit is everything, the quality is more than I would have expected. I've already washed one of the dresses a few times and no fuzzballs or unraveling anywhere.

If you're on a budget but still trying to look like a million I highly suggest you check them out!

P.S. Every purchase also comes with a coupon...I mean, could this place get any better?! Get ready to be addicted.

TGIF! Hope you all have an amazing weekend.

Behind the Scenes

Have you ever seen a photo and wondered how it was done, what work it took to get the shot? My shoot with Rock was one of a kind, and so I wanted to take the time to talk about the journey to the final image.

Anita Rock the horse-Desktop-0011.jpg

If you haven't put two and two together just yet- Rock is the beautiful stud in the photos. I've seen many a photos in Vogue, Gap and Polo ads with horses; and wanted to do something of my own. I set out to the Internet, Facebook to be exact to try and find someone with a horse I could use. I posted an ad and found the sweetest woman in the area willing to let me come look at her land and horses.

Once a week, for a month leading up to the shoot I would drive twenty minutes to go play with Rock and get him used to me. The day before he was stomping around, not letting me get close to him and I was so nervous it wouldn't work out. But the day of, after feeding him an apple he was all cuddles.

I pranced, sat, knelled, danced, and walked around for an hour with this beauty- the outcome was more than I could have asked for. Hopefully next summer Rock will be broken and I can try my hand at actually riding him.

Till next time. Happy Friday lovelies!

Summer to Fall

Living in Alaska, fall comes and goes pretty quick. Since fall fashion is my favorite thing I'm always sure to take as many photos as possible, and with winter just around the corner I have to start stocking up on content!

This colorful Chen Burkett skirt was so cute I wanted to find a way to be able to wear it in the cooler autumn months. If you don't own any thigh high boots, then I must say you're missing out. Mini skirts are great in the summer for showing off some leg, but once temperatures hit 50 and and below it's time to start being smart about what you wear. Long socks and boots are a practical and stylish way to keep a good part of your lower body warm while still looking fabulous.

Neature Walks with Rodney

Happy Hump Day lovelies! Days are getting shorter, mornings a littler colder, and I'm holding on to my summer wardrobe for dear life.

Β

After four years taking photos of landscape photographer, Rodney Nonamaker decided to take his hand at portraiture and I'm excited to be part of the journey. Composition and the way a photo is edited are the two main things I look for before contacting a photographer about a collaboration. I personally am not a fan of photos taken in the same angle all the time, or ones that are over done in lightroom/photoshop. He may be new to the game but Rodney is already trying his hand at various angles, and has blown me away with is editing skills.

You're bound to be seeing a lot more of his work on my blog! Check out even more photos on my Instagram.
