A Summer Wedding

I've said "I do" a few more times than the average 21 year old- but it's not what you think! Something most people may not know about me is how goofy I can be. During every styled bridal shoot or fitting that I do, I stand in that gown and start practicing how I will say those two simple words- β€˜I do’. I always joke that when it comes time for me to say it I want it to be perfect!

Many of the photos I post on my blog are projects that I have primarily planned on my own, but I had yet to plan a wedding shoot. After modeling for a few wedding photographers in the area, I wanted to set up a styled shoot of my own.

I spent over a month getting the team together, sending out emails and requests for people to work with. Finally I was able to get a dress designer, local bakery shop, florist, hair stylist, makeup artist, and photographer together to make this all possible.

Whoever said you can't have your cake and eat it too was wrong; as the day of shooting winded down Steve suggested that I grab a big chunk of cake and just eat it. I'm a little shy and I couldn't see how this would possibly look good- but after some harassment (just kidding) from the rest of the team I did it. These are now some of my favorite photos from the day!

Planning this shoot wasn't easy but so worth it. I'm excited to unveil some more personal projects in the coming months, so stay tuned.

Summer Nights

What do I love more than a cute hat? An even cuter dress! Don't get me wrong, I love fashion. Preparing my outfit for the day is one of the best parts of my morning...but sometimes even fashion bloggers need a break.

I love the simplicity of summer style. I don't know about you but for me, picking an outfit is a process. In the summer I put on a dress, a pair of sandals and boom! Outfit complete. I always like to keep the option to throw on a hat or waist belt, and I usually end up pick one, if not both! Don't forget about accessories! A simple necklace and some stacked rings will complete any summer outfit.

As temperatures drop and fall fashion comes into full effect, getting dressed gets a little more complicated. You go from wearing a dress to adding a cardigan to stay warm. Sandals turn into boots, hats into beanies, and don’t even get me started on scarves. Putting outfits together during the colder months can put stress on even the most fashion savvy.

For now, I'm thankful to have nice summer days.

Portlandia

Social Media: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Model Mayhem, it's interesting to think of some of the apps I have to thank for the people I have met and worked with. If you're in the Pacific Northwest, you've most likely heard of her- Haley Graham. Haley does a lot of senior portraits in Portland, and boy is she good at what she does. I came across her work on Instagram when I first moved to Seattle and followed her page. After a couple of months I worked up the courage to contact her to work with me on a personal project if I could find my way down to Portland. We emailed back and forth, threw around some ideas and came up with something we both wanted to do! Photographer- check. Next on the list was to find a makeup artist. I spent the next few days sifting through the Facebook of the modeling world, Model Mayhem. I sent messages, left comments, and finally came across Katie, a makeup artist located pretty close to Haley. I bought a train ticket and I was on my way.

The sun was shining, a few clouds dotted the sky, it was a perfect day to take some photos. We spent the day roaming the park trying to find the best backdrops. One of the perks of living in the Pacific Northwest, beauty is all around: large trees, tall grass, open fields, the options felt endless. We cycled through different sceneries and outfits; as the sun set we got some final shots and then headed home. This project has been one for the books, and I'm hoping for many more.

Until next time Portland.
